The "masks" are defined Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are used to filter pathogens (viruses, bacteria and dust) from the air we breathe.
The greater the filtering factor, the greater the protection from pathogens, but also the greater the difficulty in inhaling.
PPE are classified into levels:
FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3, (FFP stands for Filternig Face Pier, in Italian we can translate it with "filtering power") which indicate the filtering capacity.
The main difference between the 3 levels is in the filtering power of particles larger than 0.6 microns: (1 micron is equivalent to one thousandth of a millimeter!)
