The Meningococcal disease is a rare but potentially devastating bacterial infection. This disease is spread through coughing, sneezing, kissing or during close contact with a carrier.

The disease is most common in the ‘meningitis belt’ of sub -Saharan Africa.

Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia

As a result of several large outbreaks of Meningitis associated with pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, all those traveling for the Hajj or Umrah are currently required to show proof of vaccination with the quadrivalent vaccine (ACWY) in order to obtain a visa.
